Samford's pitching staff on Tuesday evening held a high scoring Blazer offense (6.1 runs per game) to just one run in a bullpen day to give the Bulldogs a 24-14 edge in the all-time series between the two Birmingham teams. Carson Cupo (W, 4-0) pitched the 8th and 9th innings and kept the Blazers off the scoreboard to pick up the decision. Cupo faced just one above the minimum in his two innings of work, only allowing a walk in the bottom of the 9th with 2 away. Chase Isbell (S, 4) came in to protect the 5-1 lead in the bottom of the 10th and closed the game out by striking out the side. Billy Creger made his first start of the season at Regions Park on Tuesday, finishing the first 2 innings while allowing one run on four hits while striking out one Blazer.

Tayler McManus continued his hot streak, picking up his seventh RBI in the past 10 games, including the game winning runs as he drove in Carson Allison and Max Pinto to Give the Bulldogs the lead for good. Towns King added two more insurance runs on his two out single to Center, bringing in Tyler McManus and Davis Schwartz. No Bulldog accrued more than one hit, but Sonny DiChiara and Garrett Howe were the only members of Samford's club to also join the Extra-Base-Hit Club.

Samford has two days off to knock off the cobwebs in Joe Lee Grifith Field as the Bulldogs will finally return home and host the ETSU Buccaneers for one game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday (so long as the weather cooperates). The Buccaneers are 2-1 in conference play after taking games 1 and 3 from VMI last weekend. Assuming the weather cooperates, and let's be honest, it probably won't (It is Alabama in the Spring after all), first pitch for Friday's single game is scheduled for 4pm. Game 2 is scheduled for 1pm with Game 3 to follow hot on the heels of Game 2's conclusion.
