On Monday, Samford Volleyball (7-1) completed the season sweep of UNCG (0-8) 3 sets to 1. This was the first set the Bulldogs had dropped since Valentines Day when the Bulldogs defeated Wofford 3-1. In the match @ UNCG, Junior Lauren Deaton passed the milestone mark of 1,000 career kills as she finished 14 points in the match. Deaton now only needs 629 more kills to tie the program record of 1639 kills held by Michaela Reesar (2011-2014). In addition to leading the team in kills, Deaton also led the team in aces (7) and digs (19). Corinne Meglic further increased her league leading assist total with 46 assists on Monday. Volleyball will continue their road trip this weekend as the team travels to Johnson City, TN to take on 3rd place ETSU (4-2). Match one is this Sunday the 28th at 2pm Central and the second match is March 1st at 4pm Central. Follow @SamfordVB on Twitter for in game updates and live stats.

On Tuesday, Samford Baseball dropped their first game of the season, falling to Alabama State in an offensive battle 11-9. 14 Bulldogs found their way on base with 7 coming from base hits and 7 coming from walks (Brooks Carlson was hit by a pitch twice and both Ryan Crockett and Taylor Garris were each hit once). Catcher Kaden Dreier led the Bulldog offense with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. First Baseman Sonny DiChiara crossed the plate 3 times in the game, pitching in 1 hit and being walked 3 times. The main problem for the Bulldogs was the inability to bring runners home as 11 ducks were left on the pond. By comparison, ASU only left 6 runners stranded.
Eight Bulldogs saw time on the mound, with starter Jalon Long (0-1) going 2.0 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, walking one and striking out 5. Long was tagged with the loss on the day. Blake Bortak, Gene Hurst, Jacob Cravey, Charles Crosby, Carson Hobbs, Michael Ross, and Carson Cupo all came in from the pen, each pitching 1 inning each. The 7 relievers combined for 6 runs allowed on 10 hits, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts.
Samford will be back in action this weekend as they take on #7 Florida in Gainesville, FL. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm Central and can be streamed on SECN+.
