On Wednesday night, Samford (6-12, 2-9 SOCON) fell to the Paladins of Furman (14-7, 8-4 SOCON) by a score of 78-64. Furman shot a blistering 51.7% from the field, helping the 3rd place SOCON team past the Bulldogs, who have struggled to win in Coach McMillan's first year at the helm of the program. Turnovers plagued the Bulldogs as they coughed up possession 17 times, compared to the 10 of the hosting Paladins. Samford kept place with Furman throughout the first half, but with Furman coming away with points on almost every possession in the first 3 minutes of the second half, Samford was never able to pull closer than 9 in the final half. One positive for the Bulldogs from the game is the Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 35-29. However, with the Paladins shooting 51.7% from the field, the number of possible rebounds is severely limited.
The Bulldogs will return to Birmingham for a 2 game home-stand starting on Saturday as Samford hosts ETSU. The game is scheduled to begin at 7pm and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
